You may encounter the following error when trying to connect a WordPress site to your InfiniteWP Admin Panel:
HTTP Error 415: Unsupported Media Type The server will not accept the request, because the media type is not supported.
This issue is commonly caused by security software on the hosting server, particularly Imunify360, which interferes with legitimate requests from the InfiniteWP Admin Panel.
If your hosting provider has installed ImunifyAV360, specifically version 8.3.3-1, on your server, all incoming requests are redirected through WebShield for SplashScreen checks.
This can result in: HTTP 415 Unsupported Media Type, HTTP 400 Bad Request, and SSL certificate-related errors. These issues occur because the WebShield layer blocks or misinterprets certain request headers and content types used by InfiniteWP.
To resolve this issue, Whitelist the InfiniteWP Admin Panel Server IP. Kindly ask your hosting provider to whitelist the IP address of the server where your InfiniteWP Admin Panel is installed. This will allow all requests from your IWP server to bypass WebShield and prevent the 415 error.
NOTE: Experience has shown that some support representatives may be unfamiliar with Imunify360 and how it contributes to this connection issue. In such cases, we recommend escalating your support ticket and politely requesting that they investigate the server logs or security filters that may be blocking the connection.
If you are using Cloudflare and its "Cache Everything" feature for your WordPress Site, in addition to Imunify360 being used on the server that’s hosting the Site, then it is necessary to follow the steps outlined in this Imunify360 help document for disabling Edge Cache TTL.
We are aware of this compatibility issue and are working on an update to ensure InfiniteWP can better handle such interference from third-party firewall systems like Imunify360.
This will help prevent similar problems in the future.
If you are still facing issues or need help identifying your IWP server IP, feel free to reach out to our support team. We are here to help!
